Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate image quality of the digital mammographic image using indirect conversion CMOS detector, made by domestic manufacturer.

Materials and Methods: Routine mammography was performed in a total of 98 women who came for screening or prior to surgery using domestic test digital mammography. One breast radiologist evaluated each image using standard criteria for clinical image evaluation. Position, compression, contrast and exposure, and artifacts in each mammogram were evaluated. In addition, image resolution was assessed on a 5 point scale. Breast density and the findings were assessed using BI-RADS category, and in 18 cases having prior routine mammography image using other vendors, lesion visibility, subjective resolution, and contrast were compared.

Results: At clinical image evaluation by domestic test digital mammography, the mean scores for position (mediolateral oblique view, 27; craniocaudal view, 19.9), compression (10), contrast and exposure (11.6), and artifacts (14) in each mammogram were noted. The total scores of image quality using domestic digital mammography unit was 97.89¡¾1.67 (range: 93-100), and mean score of qualitative resolution was 4.05 ¡¾ 0.51(range: 3-5). Overall image resolution, contrast and lesion visibility were equivalent to mammography images of foreign vendors.

Conclusion: Digital mammography using indirect conversion CMOS detector, made by domestic manufacturer showed optimal image quality, and equivalent image quality was noted compared to foreign vendors.
